Scientific Advisory Board

Novelix has established a high-profile and hands-on Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). The SAB will help guide scientific, regulatory and strategic decisions as they relate to the company's drug development program. The current members are the following four internationally recognized cancer drug development experts.

  • Marcel Bally, PhD (Vancouver, BC, Canada) is a serial entrepreneur in developmental therapeutics and drug delivery. Dr. Bally is the head of Advanced Therapeutics at the British Columbia Cancer Research Centre.
  • Victor J. Bauer, PhD (Somerset, NJ, USA) has 45 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. After ten years as a Research Chemist at Lederle Laboratories, he joined Hoechst-Roussel Pharmaceuticals in 1972 as Director of Chemistry Research. Dr. Bauer then served as Vice-President Operations, and retired in 1992 as President. He is an expert on both human and animal drug development. Dr. Bauer is a Co-Founder and Director of Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Bauer received an SB from MIT, a PhD from the University of Wisconsin and was a Research Fellow in Chemistry at Harvard University.
  • Shoukat Dedhar, Ph.D. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) is one of the world’s foremost experts on integrin signaling and function and helps guide Novelix’ small molecule αvβ3 integrin drug development program.  Dr. Dedhar is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia and a Senior Investigator at the British Columbia Cancer Agency.
  • Yoel Kloog, PhD (Tel Aviv, Israel) is a well recognized international expert in medicinal chemistry and the development of targeted cancer drugs. Dr. Kloog currently serves as Dean of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University.
  • Jason Rivers, BSc, MD, FRCPC (Vancouver, BC, Canada) is an internationally recognized professor and opinion leader in dermato-oncology with a focus on actinic keratosis.  As principal at Vancouver’s Pacific Dermaesthetics, Dr. Rivers has built an internationally recognized practice in dermato-oncology and cosmetic medicine. His world-class facility is one of the largest and most technologically advanced skin treatment centers in North America. Dr. Rivers also serves as the current Editor in Chief of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery.
  • Edgar Selzer, MD (Vienna, Austria) is a co-inventor of our lead compound NVX-207 and a driving force behind the development of the Novelix pipeline.  Dr. Selzer has extensive pharmacology experience and is a Professor of Clinical and Experimental Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna.
